Flash Lite 2.1 is out!

Thursday 7 December 2006 - Filed under News

It’s free for everyone!!! You can download it at adobe now. For symbian system, there are three different files, v2_FP2, v2_FP3 and v3, which is “Developer Platform” (no idea what it means). To find out which one suits your phone, you can check at http://forum.nokia.com/devices/matrix_all_1.html
Just did a quick check. The most exciting function would be XMLSocket support. All the bitmap functions in Flash 8 are not there yet.

The most exciting thing about this is that it is not only for mobile phones… I own an Dell Axim x51v with Window Mobile 5 and until now there was only the Flash Player plugin for the Internet Explorer. Yesterday I installed Flash Lite 2.1 for Windows Mobile and… wow! It is not only able to play SWFs standalone. The file-type is allocated with the player so you can easily double-click an item and it opens with it. It is absolutely amazing!
